The idea

Compare two things with más… que or menos… que.

Put the describing word in the middle: más barato que means cheaper than.

Compare prices and distances.

Adjust the describing word.

01Esta camiseta es más barata.This T-shirt is cheaper.02Estos zapatos son más baratos.These shoes are cheaper.03Estas chaquetas son más baratas.These jackets are cheaper.

Say two things are equally good.

01Es tan bueno como el otro.es tan BWEH-noh KOH-moh el OH-trohIt is as good as the other one.02Este barrio es tan tranquilo como el mío.This neighbourhood is as quiet as mine.

Use better and worse as ready-made words.

Better

Este es mejor.Pronunciation: ES-teh es meh-HORThis one is better.

Worse

Este es peor.This one is worse.

Choose a café with a friend.

01¿Vamos a este o al otro?Shall we go to this one or the other one?02Este es más barato, pero el otro está más cerca.This one is cheaper, but the other is closer.03Prefiero el que está más cerca.I prefer the one that is closer.

Remember this

Más… que compares. Tan… como says they are equal in that way.

Este café es más barato que el otro y es tan bueno como el otro.
